Masterclass

The Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum offers a dynamic series of Masterclasses designed to extend students’ learning far beyond the boundaries of regular coursework. These specialised sessions in Drama, Visual Arts, and Dance provide young artists with opportunities to immerse themselves in advanced techniques, creative processes, and professional practices. Led by experienced practitioners and industry experts, each Masterclass encourages students to experiment, refine their craft, and gain deeper insight into the expressive possibilities of the performing and visual arts. By engaging with focused, skill-building experiences, students strengthen their artistic voice, broaden their creative perspectives, and develop confidence that empowers them both in and beyond the classroom.

30 September 2025

The Year 11 IGCSE Drama students took part in a Masterclass on the Basic Principles of Light Design, led by Mr. Manish Halder. An educationist and veteran theatre director, Mr. Halder has integrated Theatre and Puppetry into mainstream education and travelled to over 22 countries and 200 cities as a lighting designer. The Laban Technique
13- 14 October 2025

The IB Theatre students studied about The Laban Technique with Akanksha Kumari, a dance practitioner engaged in performance, choreography, teaching, writing, and research. The Laban Technique or the Laban Movement Analysis is a system for describing and analysing human movement based on four pillars: body, effort, shape and space. Akanksha's work revolves around the body, using dance and movement to question language, stereotypes, and societal norms that restrict certain bodies, aiming to reclaim freedom and agency. She incorporated somatics, body conditioning, and martial arts into her practice with the students.
