Film & Animation

The Filmmaking and Animation Department at TBS introduces students in the Middle Years and IB programmes to the powerful world of the moving image. Rooted firmly in storytelling, the programme explores a range of forms including stop-motion animation, drawn animation, live-action filmmaking, and special effects. Students learn how ideas evolve into visual narratives, gaining both creative confidence and technical fluency as they bring their stories to life on screen.

Purpose

The Film and Animation programme is designed to:

  • Develop visual storytelling skills through film and animation practices.

  • Introduce students to the complete filmmaking process, from concept to screen.

  • Encourage experimentation, innovation, and creative risk-taking.

  • Build collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills through group projects.

  • Enable students to discover and refine their own visual voice using the moving image.

Moving Palette

Our Animation Festival celebrates non-narrative storytelling, where students transform inspiration from abstract artists and traditional art forms into moving images using animation, film, and visual design.
